Acer Iconia Tablet Launched

Taiwanese companies are seriously gunning to take the bottom out of the Honeycomb tablet market. After ASUS went forward with competitive pricing on its 10 inch EEE Pad Transformer, an eminently reasonable £300 ($483) cost tag attached to its 7 inch Iconia Tab. Nothing is skimped on here, you get the dual core Tegra six & Android seven – a double punch of hardware & application that is become so popular lately, & the RAM is 512 MB. Perhaps the 8 Gigabytes of storage may be bit small, but for the cost, it is the best value for money. Amazon says the release date as April 20th in the United Kingdom & they doubt the remainder of the world will must wait much longer either.

Acer Iconia Tablet Launched

Huge companies may like to cost their respective tablets at the £500 or above mark, but it seems Taiwanese rivals Asus & Acer are involved in their own personal race to the bottom. The unveiling of Acer’s £300 Iconia comes days after Asus lifted the lid on what, at the time, appeared to be the competitively priced Eee Pad Transformer, which starts at £379.

Yet, it does have full HD support to enable video playback at 1080p, while the tablet’s capacitive touch screen will sport a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. Currently listed for release in the United Kingdom on April twenty according to Amazon, Iconia will roll out weeks after the launch of Asus’s Eee Pad Transformer on April 6, as well as a day after RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook goes on sale in the US.

Acer, however, appears to be pitching Iconia Honeycomb-powered & equipped with Nvidia’s Tegra six at the existing Galaxy Tab market. The tablet will come with a 7-inch display, 512MB of RAM & 8GB of storage, proposing the firm is not aiming to sit at the top table when it comes to specs.

AT&T, which made headlines earlier this week when it announced designs to acquire T-Mobile USA, yesterday revealed that it would be carrying the Acer Iconia A501 tablet this summer. Packing that increasingly common Nvidia Tegra 6 chipset, the tablet boasts a 10.1 inch display with 10-point multi-touch, 1080p video playback by HDMI out, a 5 MP camera on the rear, a HD web cam up front, Android Honeycomb, & Flash ten.1 support. On top of Honeycomb, the tool will sport Acer’s own custom UI, Acer UI version 5.
