The most awaited Zenfone AR featuring a 5.7-inch QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) SuperAMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is finally released with a price tag of 50K at the Flipkart website in India. The smartphone comes with dual 4G Nano-SIM slots with the second slot acting as a hybrid slot. It offers expandable memory option up to 2 TB using an external microSD card. The smartphone will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.35 GHz with Adreno 530 handling the graphics.

But in truth the ZenFone AR may turn out to be more of a technology demonstrator than a product that will fly off the shelves. Having multiple cameras and top end hardware in a phone like the ZenFone AR isn’t cheap, and while ASUS pricing is atleast not as expensive as Samsung’s Galaxy S8+, it is still not a price people will be willing to pay for Asus brand name. All in all the Zenfone AR is one cool device because it features a technology not found in most smartphones. Tango provides the user with a different level of mobile experience and gives you a glimpse into the future of Augmented Reality. However, that coolness currently has its limitations as not a lot of apps have been developed for it yet, but here lies its potential as well. Regardless, I’m definitely looking forward to the Asus ZenFone AR. It’s a promising little device!
